“A Band Called Death” is playing at Tin Pan Theater this weekend

I meant to post this yesterday because there was a showing last night, but you have two more chances to see “A Band Called Death” at Tin Pan Theater this weekend: tonight at 9, and Sunday at 8 p.m.

“A Band Called Death” is a documentary about a trio of black teenaged brothers from Detroit who formed a punk band called Death in the early 1970s, before the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, and the punk explosion in general. For a variety of reasons — their sound, their name, their skin color in the Motown era — Death never made it out of the garage until the past few years, when the band’s master tapes were discovered, an album was released, a reunion was sparked, and so on.

I’m not sure what Tin Pan‘s general practice is as far as bringing movies back for a second weekend (or beyond), so if you want to be sure to see this one, then you should do so tonight or tomorrow night.
