As you almost certainly know by now, the iconic SoCal punk band Social Distortion played Bend’s Midtown Ballroom last night, turning in a tough, tight 90-minute set in front of a packed house of adoring fans. I’ll have a full review in tomorrow’s GO! Magazine (and I will link here, of course), but right now, you should definitely scroll down and check out these terrific photos of the night, taken by The Bulletin’s Rob Kerr. If you saw the show, relive it here. If you missed it, these’ll give you a peek at the scene.

Well, I was with ya for some of it! Never been to the midtown, as the venue does little to scream “classy ambience,” but could not miss my So. Cal Social D!!!! Saw them in 1992 in San Diego, and here we are, 20 years later!

While I think some of you comments were right on, overall, I would say you shorted them quite a bit! Social D is among the top 10 EVER (as seen in Rolling Stone Mag), holding their rightful place alongside The Ramones, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, etc!

The fact Ness came to Bend Oregon, and you got to review, SHOULD have been a thrill, and certainly a bit more appreciated!

To say “I like that Social D song” meaning they all sound the same, is bordering on LUDICROUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did I stress that enough. Story of My Life, Prison Bound, Bad Luck, Ring of Fire, Cold Feelings, sounding alike?????? Again, what a LUDICROUS thing to say, but then again, THIS IS BEND OREGON, not surprising.

Bend Oregon, where the Amphitheater and critics, love to please the only crowd known in Bend, the west side, granola crunching, subaru driving, bearded Oregon look (sported by every other guy from Bend, Eugene, or Portland, not to mention 6 of 10 at every Timber’s game), it’s hysterical!

Groups like Michael Franti, The Shins, Death Cab For Cutie, Ben Harper, Decemberists ……..and we can go on and on!

No, Death Cab doesn’t sound the same every song, lol, or, The Shins!??? Wow, instead SOCIAL DISTORTION sounds the same??????

Maybe YOU should stick to the amphitheater lineup, with all your buddies??

By the way, You Tube – 2009, Bruce Springsteen calling up Mike Ness, to sing Social D’s BAD LUCK! A legend recognizing a longtime punk legend…………Think “The Boss” would call out The Shins or Michael Franti? lol…… But then again, maybe Bruce sounds the same to you as well?
