Tuesday, May 15th, 2012, 9:24 am by Ben Salmon

Today is release day for Tenacious D‘s long-awaited new album “Rize of the Fenix” (stream it here), and what better way to celebrate than to give away two tickets to see the epic comedy-rock duo on May 26 at Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend.

To win ’em, simply leave a comment on this blog post and tell me your favorite Jack Black movie. (If you’re not a movie person, you can just pick one from his filmography. I’ll never know the difference!) Be sure to leave your real email address so I can get in touch if you win. Entries are due by 5 p.m. Friday; I’ll announce the winner here.

And remember, tickets are on sale now.

Finally, here’s the video for the new album’s title track!

  3. Dana MacKenzie says:

Honestly – I know I’m in the minority here … but I loved JB in ‘Nacho Libre’. Wresting! Chips and bean dip! Stretchy pants!! CORN!!!! Jack was hilarious in the movie, and it was so quirky and full of Mexican cheese, it become an instant cult classic in my own personal movie collection.

OMG, has to be School of Rock! I really didn’t follow him until my kids made me watch that movie! He’s awesome and I can’t wait to see him in Bend!

  7. KJ says:

    High Fidelity

Tenacious D pick of Destiny is my favorite Jack Black movie.

Small role, but loved him in Dead Man Walking.

  11. Katie Reeves says:

Not an easy question to answer! I’m going with Orange County because it was a good story and Jack Black made it funny.

  12. Caitlin Marie says:

    Tropic Thunder!

(Okay with missing Tenacious D, not entering the contest, but being me, with a few minutes to kill I can’t resist an invitation to shout opinions at people.)

Saving Silverman. Greatest guilty pleasure ever. Seriously, no idea why I love it so much. Perhaps the most gleefuly sexist movie ever; two types of females exist in this world; the bubble-headed ditz with a nice body, and the domineering man-busting shrew with a nice body. It’s up to his two idiot buddies to rescue him from the shrew, reunite him with the ditz. On paper it should be awful, it’s the exact type of thing that makes me hate mainstream movies, and yet for reasons I couldn’t even begin to explain it’s hilarious.

  14. Kevin says:

Nacho Libre!!! (I also really liked him in Saving Silverman.)

  15. Tawnya Knight says:

I love Jack Black! My favorite movie of his would have to be High Fidelity! The reason is because he is not only a great actor in this film, but we also get to enjoy his incredible musical abilities and his outrageous sense of humor!

  16. Ian Egan says:

Hands down, Saving Silverman. “If you get the nachos stuck together it counts as one nacho.” “I haven’t told you a lot of things…”like what?”…”Like I have a 3rd testicle.” “Remember that time I went to the prom with nothing on but my body painted and then I spilled on myself and everyone could see my dong?”

  17. Rachel says:

    School of Rock!!!

  18. Heather Feather says:

    Be Kind Rewind. Hilarious.

  19. Bill Robie says:

Toss up between “Be Kind Rewind” and “Tropic Thunder”. BKR is a wonderful off kilter Michael Gondry gem. TT is over the top, but underrated, comedy on a big budget. If I were renting I’d go with BKR, by a nose.

  20. Michelle M says:

Hard to choose: High fidelity, School of Rock, The Holiday

  21. Dave Finch says:

I’m destined to go and win! : ) Jack Black and I have same birtrhday : ). .brothas from another motha :)

  22. Dave Finch says:

besides the same birthday thing. . I’d have to say “Saving Silverman” him performing Neil Diamnond. .is the best movie! : )

  23. Sherri says:

    Tropic Thunder

  24. Andy says:

    BONGWATER all the way!!!

  25. Lynn F says:

Heat Vision and Jack! If you haven’t seen it:

It is so weird and fantastic.

  26. Elizabeth M says:

    Shallow Hal!

  27. Fawn Sybrant says:

    School of Rock. For real.

  28. Davis says:

    THe Holiday, by far!

  29. macky-paige says:
