I just read somewhere on the totally reliable Internet that today — 01/02/2010 — is one of only two days this century that is a palindromic number, that is, it reads the same way going forward and backward. Go ahead, go back to the date and see for yourself. I’ll wait.
See? Anyway, if you think I know what the century’s other palindromic date is, you are wrong. I do, however, know a song about palindromes. So here it is, in honor of today:
1) Check out that old cardboard CD box Letterman holds up! Man, is that a blast from the past. I used to have those lining the top of the walls of my bedroom like a wallpaper border.
2) Someone really should’ve told John Linnell to stop looking at the camera.
3) They Might Be Giants are aging well. I saw ‘em a ton in the early ’90s, but haven’t listened to ‘em much in the past, oh, 15 years. As a result, they’re one of the few bands I haven’t YouTubed to death. YouTube, of course, is a TMBG treasure trove, featuring videos like this one and this one.
Happy Palindrome Day, nerds. Oh, and Happy New Year, too.
