Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold covers Neutral Milk Hotel

Monday, July 13th, 2009, 10:14 am by Ben Salmon

It would be easy to play cooler-than-thou and make fun of the blogasm happening this morning because of this song.

But I won’t do that. Or rather, I can’t do that, because I’ll be too busy listening to this over and over and over and over. And you can too, thanks to this download right here:

Robin Pecknold, “Two-Headed Boy” (Neutral Milk Hotel cover)

The entire set is at Chocolate Bobka, where you can read about when and where and why this was played, at least until music nerds everywhere crash the dude’s site.

This is a great track. Thanks for posting. The crowd at that show got a real treat.

I love how Robin cuts the ‘g’ off several of the words – creatin – catchin’ – you get my point. Also, at the end when he says, “Sorry I (effed) that up. I love that song,” – so endearing. How you can not love that guy? Despite the flub he did a really great cover of an amazing song.
